OUR GREEN INITIATIVE

When designing Nibbles' Play Cafe we had three ideals. We wanted to create a space that was aesthetically pleasing so moms would enjoy spending time there. We also wanted to create a space that was comfortable and interesting so children would enjoy sending time there. And we really wanted to support a green-friendly environment. No easy task. But we did.

Our focus was to utilize:

• Products that emit low or zero levels of VOC.
• Products that were sustainable and manufactured using green business practices.
• Products that could replace disposable products such as plates and party decorations.
• Green cleaning products, especially on surfaces that children will be in contact with.

For example:

• Our floors and trim are made of bamboo. Bamboo is naturally hypo-allergenic, anti-microbial and anti-fungal.
• Our play areas are covered with rugs made of nylon and recycled materials that emit low levels of VOC.
• Our bathroom walls are covered with clay paint made from naturally occurring earth borne clays.
• Our walls throughout the facility are covered with low odor antimicrobial paint, emitting zero VOC.
• Our counters are VCO free and made of recycled glass and concrete.
• Our cabinets are made of reclaimed wood from collapsed barns and 100 year old renovated houses.
• Our walls are partially covered with cork which is a sustainable product.
